One Planet Platforms

One Planet is a digital solutions company founded by Pooran Desai in 2019 to address sustainability challenges by breaking down siloed thinking. Desai, an environmentalist and entrepreneur with over three decades of experience in sustainability, previously co-founded Bioregional, where he initiated the UK's first large-scale, mixed-use zero-carbon community, BedZED. This experience revealed a common need across all projects: a joined-up approach to involve and secure agreement from multiple stakeholders. OnePlanet was created to embed this interconnected thinking into daily work through a digital platform.

The Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform enables organizations to visualize, create, and share sustainability plans as interactive mind maps and detailed documents. First released in 2020, the tool is designed for collaboration across sectors, allowing local governments, community groups, and corporations to work on shared outcomes. It helps users see connections between different objectives, such as climate action and public health, to create more effective and comprehensive strategies. Clients include the London Borough of Haringey, which uses the platform to manage its climate action targets and embed carbon mitigation into all council decisions.

The platform is built on the One Planet Living framework, which Desai helped develop with the WWF and Bioregional. This framework consists of ten principles, such as 'Health & Happiness' and 'Sustainable Water', that serve as a foundation for creating sustainable plans. The business model appears to be venture-backed, having received funding from investors including Leo Lion and Mott MacDonald Ventures.
