Ogeu Groupe is a family-owned beverage company and the fourth largest bottled water producer in France, specializing in regional mineral and spring waters. The company's history traces back to 1820 with the establishment of a thermal center in Ogeu-les-Bains in the Pyrénées, which began bottling sparkling mineral water and lemonade. The business is currently managed by Jean-Hervé Chassaigne, a descendant of the founding family, who took over as CEO in 2009 and has since led the company's expansion.
Under Chassaigne's leadership, Ogeu Groupe has pursued a strategy of acquiring regional water brands with strong local identities to compete against multinational corporations like Danone and Nestlé Waters. Key acquisitions include Plancoët in Brittany, Chevreuse (rebranded as Lutécia) in the Paris region, Quézac in Gévaudan, Sainte-Baume in Provence, Valécrin in the Alps, and Luchon in the Pyrenees. This has positioned the group as a leader in France's regional water market. The company primarily serves the mass retail market in France but is also focused on expanding into non-domestic catering and export markets, particularly in Asia.
In addition to its core business of still and sparkling mineral waters, the company has diversified its product portfolio to include flavored waters, soft drinks, beers, and energy drinks. It acquired "Brasseries des Pyrénées" to produce regional beer brands such as Sarriat, Hapchòt, and Belharra. The business model focuses on leveraging the strong regional identity of its brands while expanding its product offerings. Ogeu Groupe operates several bottling plants across France and has invested significantly in new production lines, including a high-speed canning facility to meet growing demand for products in aluminum cans for both the French and Spanish markets.
