Offerum was an e-commerce marketplace that connected local merchants with consumers by offering daily deals. Launched in 2010 in Barcelona, the company was founded by Jesús Monleón, Vicente Arias, Sacha Fuentes, and Christian Fuentes. The platform provided discounts on a wide range of products and services, including restaurants, beauty and wellness treatments, leisure activities, and travel.
The business model centered on the sale of discount vouchers, from which Offerum would take a commission. The company experienced significant growth, expanding its user base to Spain, Italy, and France, and attracting investors like Bonsai Venture Capital and SeedRocket, raising $2 million in a Series A round in 2011. By 2015, Offerum had achieved a transaction value of €18 million and positive EBITDA of €400,000.
In March 2015, Offerum merged with its competitor Groupalia to form a new entity called Merchant Digital Services, creating a combined entity with a potential annual turnover of around €60 million. This move was part of a broader strategy to shift away from the daily deals model and focus more on merchant services, including an acquired beauty salon booking platform, Bellahora.com. Less than a year later, in February 2016, the merged company was acquired by Ofertix, another player in the online discount sector.
