Nullspace is a deep-tech company that develops engineering simulation software for applications in defense, aerospace, communications, automotive, and quantum computing. The company was established in June 2023 as a spin-off from IERUS Technologies, a defense contractor, and is headquartered in Irvine, California. The founding technology was developed over more than a decade at IERUS to address the shortcomings of existing simulation tools.
The company's co-founders, CEO Dr. Masha Petrova and CTO Dr. Daniel Faircloth, both hold PhDs and have extensive experience in engineering and executive leadership. Dr. Faircloth began developing the core technology at IERUS out of a need for more powerful and flexible simulation tools to design complex electromagnetic devices for defense and aerospace clients. Dr. Petrova was recruited to lead the company, bringing over 15 years of experience in marketing to technical B2B markets.
Nullspace provides software that enables engineers to model large, complex designs with high fidelity and speed, reducing simulation times from days to hours. Its product suite includes Nullspace EM, an electromagnetic simulation solver for large optimization problems; Nullspace ES, a commercial electrostatic solver for designing and analyzing large-scale ion traps used in quantum computing; and Nullspace Prep, a CAD and meshing pre-processor. The software features multi-CPU and GPU acceleration, a Python API for automation, and flexible floating licenses. The business model targets enterprise clients in high-growth, high-barrier markets like 5G, quantum computing, and spectrum management. In August 2025, Nullspace announced a $2.5 million seed funding round led by Fathom Fund to expand its engineering team and accelerate product development.
