NR Instant Produce Public Company Limited (NRF) is a Thailand-based food manufacturer and distributor specializing in ethnic, plant-based, and functional foods. Founded in 1991, the company began as a small factory and has since expanded into a global food business, exporting its first OEM products to the USA in 1996 and the UK in 2001. A significant turning point occurred in 2017 when Hatton Capital, led by Dan Pathomvanich, acquired the company, steering its strategy toward becoming a leading producer of future foods and a key investor in food innovations for a sustainable ecosystem. NRF was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand on October 9, 2020.
The company's business model is centered on three main pillars: Ethnic Foods, Plant-based Foods, and Functional Products. The Ethnic Foods division offers a wide array of products including sauces, seasoning mixes, ready-to-eat meals, and beverages under its own brands like Por Kwan, Sabzu, and Thai Delight, and also provides co-packing and private label services for other retailers. The Plant-Based Foods segment focuses on meat alternatives derived from ingredients like jackfruit and konjac. The Functional Products group includes innovative packaging solutions and other specialized items. NRF serves a global market, distributing products to over 30 countries, with a significant presence in North America and Europe. Revenue is generated through the sale of its branded products and OEM/co-packing services to retailers and other food companies.
NRF has actively pursued growth through strategic investments and acquisitions. It has invested in various food-tech startups and funds, such as Big Idea Venture and Phuture, to gain access to modern innovations in the alternative protein sector. In 2020, the company acquired City Food to expand its manufacturing capacity and invested in Plant & Bean in the UK to build a global plant-based co-packing platform. A notable joint venture was established in 2021 with PTT Group to penetrate the regional plant-based market. The company aims to become a "Clean Food Tech Company" and is focused on developing food businesses that reduce carbon emissions.
