NPHub operates as a technology-powered, two-sided marketplace designed to address the significant challenge Nurse Practitioner (NP) students face in securing required clinical placements. Founded in 2017 by Krish Chopra, the Atlanta-based company was created after Chopra identified a critical bottleneck in NP education: unlike medical students, most NP students are responsible for finding their own clinical preceptors, a process that can be inefficient and lead to graduation delays. Chopra, a University of Michigan graduate recognized in Inc.'s 30 Under 30 in 2019, aimed to solve this preceptor shortage and empower the next generation of healthcare providers.
The company's business model centers on its digital platform, which connects NP students with a vetted network of over 2,000 active preceptors across the United States. Students can search for preceptors by specialty, location, and availability, while preceptors are compensated for their teaching, creating an incentive for experienced practitioners to mentor students. NPHub's revenue is generated through fees for its placement services, with costs starting at approximately $12.75 per clinical hour and a minimum rotation cost of $1,000. To make this accessible, the company offers flexible 12-month payment plans, requiring an initial 15% deposit to reserve a placement.
The service streamlines the entire placement process, from matching to managing the extensive paperwork required by universities, a key pain point for both students and preceptors. The platform features a feedback and quality control system; preceptors who do not receive excellent reviews are removed from the network, aiming to continuously improve the experience for students. NPHub serves NP students from over 240 university programs, facilitating more than 10,000 clinical rotations since its inception. In June 2025, NPHub secured a $20 million growth equity investment from Edison Partners, its first institutional funding, to enhance its technology and expand its services. The company is also launching NPHire, an AI-powered job board to connect NP graduates with full-time employment, further extending its support throughout a nurse practitioner's career lifecycle.
