In 2005, Wang Jingbo and Yin Zhe spun out the private banking division of Xiangcai Securities, founding Noah Holdings in Shanghai with 3 million RMB. They started in a small office with second-hand furniture, aiming to serve China's growing high-net-worth population. The company initially acted as a distributor of financial products created by other institutions. A key moment arrived in 2007 when Noah received an investment from Sequoia Capital. This enabled the company to build out its own capabilities. In 2010, Noah launched its own asset management subsidiary, Gopher Asset Management. This move allowed them to create and manage their own investment products, including private equity and real estate funds. The company's growth led to a significant milestone on November 10, 2010, when Noah Holdings went public on the New York Stock Exchange. Following the IPO, Noah began its international expansion, opening offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States to serve the global needs of its clients. The journey continued with a dual primary listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in July 2022, broadening its investor base.
