The story of Nickis.com begins not in a tech hub, but at a local retail store in 1985. For over 30 years, NICKIS established itself by offering a curated selection of exclusive children's fashion. The key was a physical concept store on Lake Tegernsee, near Munich, building a reputation for luxury brands. A significant shift happened in 2015 when the business was completely restarted as an international online shop. This digital transformation was led by founder Maria Sottor, who brought experience from a career that began at Polo Ralph Lauren. She was joined by Fabian Bender as CEO. The move to e-commerce proved to be a critical inflection point. By 2017, the Munich-based company secured a €6 million Series B funding round from existing shareholders and new investor Ataraxy Ventures. This capital was earmarked for expanding its market leadership in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and to fuel further international growth. The strategy focused on developing its technology in CRM and mobile to create a personalized shopping experience for parents as their children grow. Today, Nickis.com ships brands like Gucci and Moncler worldwide, combining its boutique heritage with a global online platform.
