Neptun Salmo

Founded in 1990 by Per Devik as Neptun Settefisk, Neptun Salmo AS is a Norwegian producer of salmon smolt for the aquaculture industry. The company operates two land-based facilities in the municipality of Namsos, one in Røyklibotn and one in Survik, which it acquired in 2001.

Neptun Salmo focuses on producing robust and healthy juvenile fish to supply traditional sea farms and post-smolt producers. The company emphasizes a production model based on fish welfare and sustainability, aiming for energy-efficient operations with minimal environmental impact. In the summer of 2024, the company completed a significant expansion at its Røyklibotn location, opening a new 3,000-square-meter facility featuring modern Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) technology. In June 2025, Norwegian private equity firm Broodstock Capital acquired a majority stake in Neptun Salmo through a combination of share purchases and new equity injection. This strategic partnership is intended to fund further growth, including the expansion of current facilities and potential acquisitions, with the goal of developing a larger, independent hatchery platform. The company's revenue in 2024 was approximately 90 million NOK.
