Needish was a Chilean company founded in 2007 by Daniel Undurraga, Oskar Hjertonsson, and Juan Pablo Cuevas. The firm operated a community-based online platform where users could post their need for a particular local service, and businesses could then make offers to fulfill that request. This model aimed to connect consumers directly with service providers, allowing users to buy, sell, recommend, and offer services in a centralized marketplace.
The platform functioned as a business directory created by its own users, who could post their needs for free. For businesses, Needish offered a subscription-based model to create corporate profiles, connect with potential customers, and promote their services to a growing user base that reached over 10,500 consumers in Chile. The founders, Undurraga and Hjertonsson, were instrumental in the company's trajectory and later went on to create other successful ventures, including the group-buying site ClanDescuento and the grocery delivery app Cornershop.
While seeking investment in San Francisco, the founders identified the potential of the group-buying model popularized by Groupon in the United States. This led them to pivot and launch ClanDescuento in Chile, which quickly surpassed the sales volume of Needish. In June 2010, Groupon acquired Needish and ClanDescuento as part of its strategy to enter the South American market. Following the acquisition, Needish was eventually shut down.
