The company emerged from co-founder Rishabh Gupta's personal frustrations with the legal system after his family endured an eight-year legal battle. This experience, coupled with his background at firms like Ernst & Young and Goldman Sachs and his education from IIT Roorkee, fueled the creation of a platform to address the lack of transparency in legal proceedings and fees in India. His co-founder, Kushal Bhagat, is also an IIT Roorkee alumnus.

The business model centers on charging a nominal fee for consultations and services booked through the platform, alongside a subscription fee for lawyers listed in their network. This approach provides clients with fixed-fee structures and milestone-based payments, moving away from the traditional per-hearing fee model.

MyAdvo's core service is its lawyer discovery platform, which lists thousands of lawyers across hundreds of Indian cities, specialized by domain. For clients, the platform offers end-to-end case support, assigning dedicated case managers to provide regular updates. A key feature is the proprietary case management tool, a real-time analytics dashboard where clients can manage documents, track payments, and communicate with their case manager. For lawyers, the platform provides access to a large client base and a digital assistant to manage administrative tasks, thereby increasing productivity. The company offers a range of specific legal services, including property disputes, cheque bounce complaints, and wrongful termination notices, as well as assistance with government registrations such as marriage certificates and company incorporation.

Since its inception, the Gurugram-based company has raised a total of $1.91 million over three seed funding rounds, with its first round in December 2016 and the latest in October 2019. Key investors include WaterBridge, LetsVenture, and Mumbai Angels.
