Established in 1995 in João Pessoa, Brazil, MVarandas Tecnologia emerged from the vision of two founding partners, later led by CEO Marcus Varandas, to deliver technology solutions. Initially serving a diverse client base that included hotels and clinical laboratories, the company began to pivot towards the food service industry, officially specializing in this sector in 2011 to meet growing market demands. This strategic focus culminated in the firm's evolution and rebranding, adopting the Menew name to better reflect its core business.
The company provides a comprehensive foodservice management system designed for establishments such as restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and food trucks. Its primary offering, now known as Linx Menew following its incorporation into the Linx and Stone Co. group, is a platform that optimizes daily operations. Key features include point-of-sale (POS) management, inventory control, order and delivery management, and financial administration. The system integrates various operational facets onto a single platform, facilitating order taking at the table, automatic transmission to the kitchen, payment processing, and tax receipt printing. To serve its market, MVarandas operates on a business-to-business model, generating revenue through the sale and licensing of its software solutions.
A significant milestone in the company's trajectory was the investment from Stone, which began as a partnership in 2018 and led to an acquisition. This collaboration enhanced MVarandas's product offerings by integrating Stone's payment technologies, such as embedding the Menew application within Stone's Android POS devices and utilizing the Pagar.me gateway for its delivery platform. During the COVID-19 crisis, the company launched the "Delivery Menew" platform free of charge to help restaurants pivot to delivery services. The firm's growth was further recognized through its participation in the Endeavor ScaleUp program in 2018 and winning a Sebrae award for the most innovative food service startup at Fispal 2018. Now part of Linx, Marcus Varandas has taken on the role of Director of Food Service, continuing to guide the product's evolution within the larger corporate structure.
