MundoMaker is an education technology company founded in 2015 that provides hands-on, creative learning experiences. Co-founded by Fabio Zsigmond and Orlando Lobosco, the company aims to foster creative and entrepreneurial potential in children, young people, and adults through practical, project-based learning. Zsigmond has a background in business administration and has dedicated the last several years to his passion for technology and education. Lobosco is a proponent of the "Do It Yourself" movement, with a background in architecture and philosophy, who became a self-taught ModelMaker and later a Maker-educator.
The company's methodology is based on Integral Education and Creative Learning, focusing on developing socio-emotional skills such as creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience. MundoMaker operates in three main segments: providing its curriculum to schools, offering courses for families, and delivering solutions for companies. Their learning spaces, or "makerspaces," are equipped with a variety of tools, from traditional hand tools to digital fabrication technology like 3D printers and laser cutters. Participants learn skills in programming, mechanics, and robotics. The business model involves partnerships with schools to integrate their "MakerLab" into the curriculum, as well as offering extracurricular activities, workshops, and take-home project boxes like the TinTin Box and Inventobox. In 2023, Positivo Tecnologia invested BRL 4.6 million for a 16% stake in the edtech, aiming to expand its product offerings and develop the basic education market, particularly in Northern Brazil.
