In 1994, a group of physicians in Colorado Springs founded Mountain View Medical Group (MVMG), establishing a multi-specialty practice with a straightforward mission: enhance the health of their patients. The group grew to include services like family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, and neurology, operating across 14 locations and caring for over 80,000 patients in the Pikes Peak region. A significant chapter in the group's story unfolded in early 2017. DaVita Inc., a large independent medical group, announced it was acquiring MVMG. This wasn't a hostile takeover but a strategic alignment. Dr. Amy Owen, the Board President of Mountain View Medical Group at the time, stated that joining with DaVita would provide greater opportunities to continue delivering high levels of care. The integration continued as the healthcare landscape evolved. DaVita's medical group division was later acquired, and today, Mountain View Medical Group operates as a part of Optum Colorado. This transition brought the once-independent physician group into a nationwide network of over 60,000 doctors, aiming to combine local care with the resources of a national organization.
