The story of Motorcycle Holdings begins in a highly fragmented market, the Australian motorcycle dealership industry. In 1989, founder David Ahmet, along with John Oliver, took part ownership of a single Yamaha dealership in Moorooka. This was the seed that would grow into Australia's largest motorcycle dealer group. The company's business model focused on creating a one-stop shop, offering new and used bikes, parts, accessories, servicing, and financing. For over two decades, the company grew steadily, both organically and by acquiring other dealerships. A pivotal moment arrived in 2011 when Archer Growth Fund, a private equity firm, became the majority shareholder after purchasing the Oliver family's stake. This capital infusion set the stage for accelerated expansion. The next major turn came in April 2016, when Motorcycle Holdings launched its Initial Public Offering on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), in what was considered a very successful listing. Now publicly traded, the company had the capital and structure to consolidate the market further. It continued its strategy of growth through acquisition, expanding its footprint across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and the ACT, and eventually into New Zealand. Today, Motorcycle Holdings represents all of the top-selling motorcycle brands in Australia.
