MonAlbumPhoto is a French e-commerce company specializing in the online printing of personalized photo products. Established in 2004 by cousins Pierre-Antoine and Alexandre Bataille, the company initially focused on creating photo albums designed as bound books. The founders, hailing from a family of entrepreneurs, identified a market opportunity with the rise of digital photography and ADSL, aiming to create a higher-quality alternative to existing online photo services.
The company's business model is direct-to-consumer (B2C), generating revenue through the sale of a wide array of personalized items. Clients use a free, proprietary software or an online application to design their products. The product range has expanded significantly since its inception, moving beyond photo books to include calendars, posters, canvases, greeting cards, and other decorative items like personalized mugs and cushions. Production is centralized at a facility in Nanteuil-le-Haudouin in the Oise region of France, which received the "Imprim'Vert" label for environmentally friendly printing practices.
MonAlbumPhoto has undergone several significant ownership changes that have shaped its growth. In 2010, it was acquired by Mistergooddeal, a subsidiary of the M6 Group, which leveraged its marketing power to accelerate the startup's expansion. This led to a tenfold increase in turnover between 2010 and 2018. The founders departed the company in January 2015. As the European photo product market consolidated, the M6 Group sold MonAlbumPhoto to the Dutch group Albelli in July 2018, a move intended to strengthen its market position. In 2017, the year before this acquisition, the company shipped over 1.3 million products and generated more than €30 million in revenue. Subsequently, MonAlbumPhoto merged with Photobox, and its website now redirects to the Photobox platform, combining their product ranges and user experiences under a new name.
