ModoHR Technologies Inc., founded in 2019 by Ken Cahoon in British Columbia, Canada, developed web applications to automate and streamline scalable, compliant processes for human resources. The company operated primarily through its main brand, ScreeningCanada™, an online platform that enabled organizations to conduct various background checks. These services included criminal record checks, education and employment verifications, driver's abstracts, and credit reports.

The ScreeningCanada™ platform was designed to provide a single, unified workflow for requesting and monitoring screening results while ensuring data privacy and security. It integrated with major Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), serving thousands of Canadian organizations. A notable feature was LiveVideoID™, designed to help remove unconscious bias from the hiring process.

In February 2022, ModoHR Technologies was acquired by Checkr, a prominent U.S.-based background check technology company, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition was a strategic move for Checkr to expand its global footprint into the Canadian market. Following the acquisition, ModoHR's team and technology were integrated into Checkr's operations to enhance their Canadian background check capabilities, while ensuring client data remained stored in Canada.
