Moai Technologies, founded in 1996 by Deva Hazarika and Frank Kang, was an early player in the e-sourcing software and services market. The company developed business software applications for electronic commerce, specifically providing a business-to-business electronic auction marketplace for manufacturers and distributors. The firm's CompleteSource Solution Suite enabled purchasing and supply chain managers to execute e-sourcing strategies through various online negotiation formats, including reverse auctions and multi-stage negotiations. Moai also offered consulting services that covered marketplace research, cost modeling, and spend analysis strategies.

The company successfully raised a total of $31.8 million in funding over two rounds. The initial funding round occurred on January 27, 1998, securing $1.75 million. A significantly larger Series D round followed on April 4, 2000, raising $30 million from investors including Tredegar, Lake Street Capital, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Headquartered in San Francisco, CA, Moai Technologies was a private entity throughout its operation. The company was eventually acquired on January 18, 2002.

After their venture with Moai, both founders, Deva Hazarika and Frank Kang, went on to establish another company together called ClearContext. This indicates a continued entrepreneurial partnership and interest in the technology sector following their work at Moai. Hazarika also founded an additional company, Opstarts.
