Millennium Banque Privée
Private banking and wealth management for international clients.
Millennium Banque Privée - BCP (Suisse) SA was a Swiss private bank located in Geneva, founded in 2002. It operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Banco Comercial Português (BCP), Portugal's largest private banking group. The bank specialized in wealth management services for both private and institutional clients. Its business model focused on providing personalized investment solutions through discretionary management, advisory services, and execution-only platforms tailored to client needs and risk profiles. The client base was international, with a significant focus on markets in Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
The bank's history began with its entry into the Geneva Commercial Registry and request for a banking license in 2002, officially opening in 2003 to target high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and family offices from Portugal and Greece. Over the years, it expanded its reach, launching an External Asset Managers (EAM) desk in 2007 and targeting segments in Poland and Brazil in 2006. A notable milestone was the creation of an African Desk in 2013 to serve clients from Angola, Mozambique, and South Africa.
In June 2021, Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) announced it had entered into an agreement to acquire Millennium Banque Privée in a share deal. The acquisition was finalized in the fourth quarter of 2021. This transaction was part of UBP's strategy to expand its presence in Europe and key emerging markets, adding over CHF 4 billion to its assets under management and reinforcing its expertise in markets like Portugal and Brazil.
