Mighty Foods
A San Francisco-based nutraceuticals company passionate about helping people enhance their lives and wellbeing.
Mighty Foods, a food-tech company headquartered in Mumbai, India, was founded in 2021 by Dibyendu Bindal and Tarun Katial. The venture emerged from the founders' recognition of a significant gap in the Indian market: a growing awareness of plant-based diets coupled with a lack of tasty, accessible, and easy-to-prepare options. Founder and CEO Dibyendu Bindal, who previously started the frozen foods company Freshezy, identified the rising demand for convenient and healthy food, particularly in the wake of lifestyle changes prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Mighty Foods aims to address the widespread protein deficiency in India by offering plant-based protein meals that are simple to cook.
The company operates in the plant-based food market, targeting health-conscious consumers, including vegetarians, vegans, and non-vegetarians looking to reduce meat consumption. Its business model encompasses both direct-to-consumer sales through its website and supplying the HoReCa (Hotel/Restaurant/Café) sector. Under the umbrella of its parent FMCG company, Freshezy, Mighty Foods leverages an existing B2B network that supplies frozen food products to numerous clients. The business strategy is focused on creating a distinct category of "fast-plant protein," offering guilt-free versions of popular fast-food items.
Mighty Foods provides a range of ready-to-cook (RTC) and ready-to-eat (RTE) plant-based protein products. The product line is handcrafted and features artisanal recipes designed to replicate the taste and texture of their non-vegetarian counterparts. Offerings include items such as Seekh Kebabs, Galauti Kebabs, Keema Samosas, Dimsums, Burger Patties, and plant-based versions of prawn and fish dishes. These products are made from high-quality protein extracted from green gram, chickpeas, soya, and peas, and are formulated without preservatives. Packaged with all necessary ingredients and clear cooking instructions, the products are designed for maximum convenience. Initially launched in Mumbai, the company has ambitions for a pan-India presence across 40 cities and eventual global expansion.
