MIG Insurance

MIG Insurance Group Ltd. was an insurance brokerage firm founded in 1995 by Brian and Susan Gilbert. Headquartered in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, the company grew from a sole proprietorship to a business with eight branches across the province and nearly 60 employees. The firm provided a wide range of insurance products, including residential, auto, life, travel, recreation, farm, and commercial insurance services. The business was a family affair, with the Gilberts' children also playing active roles in the organization.

In November 2020, MIG Insurance Group was acquired by Westland Insurance Group, one of Canada's largest independent property and casualty insurance brokers. The acquisition was part of Westland's strategy to expand its presence in Manitoba and across Canada. Following the acquisition, MIG Insurance was rebranded as Westland Insurance, but the existing team continued to serve its clients. At the time of the sale, Brian Gilbert was the President & CEO of MIG Insurance Group.
