In 1979, Vincent Tellier founded Micropross in Lille, France. The company focused on a highly specialized and technical market: creating test solutions for smart cards. This was a niche but critical business, as it allowed companies in payments, telecommunications, and digital identity to ensure their products performed correctly, both electrically and by protocol. As technology evolved, so did Micropross. The company expanded its expertise into the burgeoning fields of Near Field Communication (NFC) and wireless charging. This foresight positioned them as a leading supplier for testing the very technologies that were beginning to appear in smartphones and other consumer devices. While not a household name, Micropross became an essential partner for major international companies that needed to validate the performance of these new features before they reached the market. A significant chapter in the company's journey began in October 2015. National Instruments (NI), a major player in platform-based test systems, announced its acquisition of Micropross. The deal valued Micropross at approximately €95 million. For NI, the acquisition was a strategic move to strengthen its capabilities in the growing wireless test market. Micropross became a wholly-owned subsidiary, with its existing management team, including General Manager Philippe Bacle, continuing to lead operations, ensuring a seamless transition and continued innovation under the new ownership.
