Meraker

Meraker is a South Korean technology company founded in 2021 that develops artificial intelligence-based solutions, combining algorithms and camera sensor hardware. The company's name is derived from "Meraki-er," meaning a person who creates with soul. Meraker is headquartered at the AI Yangjae Hub in Seoul.

The firm's flagship product is a portable AI ophthalmic camera, designed for the early screening and diagnosis of major eye diseases. This device can capture images of both the front (anterior segment) and back (posterior segment) of the eye, using an embedded AI algorithm to screen for conditions. In addition to its medical technology, Meraker develops AI solutions for digital media. This includes QuuP, an AI rendering solution that creates 4K images for VFX software, and metaverse solutions that use AI video processing to create immersive content.

Since its inception, Meraker has achieved several milestones, including securing seed investment from WYSIWYG Studios. The company also received support from Google, providing annual cloud credits and technical assistance. Meraker established a corporate research institute and successfully passed a stage evaluation for its portable ophthalmic camera project with the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
