The company was established in 2018 and is a subsidiary of Shanghai Meigong Technology Co., Ltd. Its platform, which officially launched in 2019, integrates brand display, product sales, and marketing into a unified channel. This model aims to provide consumers with a comprehensive, personalized, and professional shopping experience for a wide variety of cosmetic lens brands.
The platform serves as an alternative sales and marketing channel for cosmetic contact lens brands and merchants facing high rental costs for physical stores and increasing customer acquisition costs on established, general e-commerce sites. Meitonghui's business model is centered on B2C sales through its dedicated app and website. The company ensures product authenticity and safety by requiring all entering merchants to be legal entities with the necessary licenses for the production and distribution of contact lens products. By its first year of operation, the platform had served over 200,000 users and hosted more than 100 brands.
In 2019, Meitonghui secured a strategic investment from the controlling shareholder of Jinbo Bio, a company specializing in functional protein research and development. This partnership was aimed at collaborating on production technology for colored contact lens materials, including the exclusive rights to develop products using recombinant human type III collagen, a material intended to offer greater comfort than the commonly used silicone hydrogel. As of 2019, Meitonghui was noted as the only e-commerce platform in the vertical domain of 'colored contact lenses' with the required third-class medical device sales license in China, a category that includes cosmetic contact lenses.
