Meeshkan operated in the software development and testing sector, focusing on automating quality assurance for APIs. The company was founded in Helsinki, Finland, in 2017 by Mike Solomon, Makenna Smutz, Kimmo Sääskilahti, and Idan Tene. CEO Mike Solomon brought a diverse academic background from institutions like Stanford University and experience in computer music, audio, and AI research and development.
The firm initially targeted frustrations within the machine learning workflow, developing a ChatOps bot for Slack that allowed data science teams to train, test, and deploy ML models. This tool was compatible with frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. The company secured approximately €370k ($418k) in a pre-seed funding round in December 2018 from investors including Nordic Makers, First Fellow Partners, and Connect Ventures. This capital was intended to further develop its machine learning products and expand its client base, which already included customers in the US and several Nordic countries.
Later, Meeshkan shifted its focus to offer a pre-release workflow for product managers and developers. Its flagship product became unmock.io, a tool designed to help developers test integrations with popular third-party services like AWS and Stripe by creating custom sandbox environments. The platform aimed to automatically write and execute tests to identify bugs before production. The business targeted software developers and small to medium-sized companies, offering a tool that recorded user behavior to visualize and score test coverage. According to some sources, Meeshkan ceased operations around March-June 2024.
