Medkit Network Ltd. operates as a digital consumer pharmacy care platform with a mission to improve healthcare accessibility in underserved communities across Africa. The company’s strategy focuses on a last-mile wholesale hub that equips and supports a network of local pharmacies.

The founders' journey in healthcare began after their graduation from the School of Pharmacy in 2005, leading to over 18 years of experience in Kenya's healthcare sector. Their early careers included service with the Ministry of Health until 2008, followed by roles in pharmaceutical supply chain, marketing, and drug discovery. A significant milestone was the co-founding of a large PE-funded pharmacy chain in 2007, which expanded to 52 locations. In 2009, they launched one of Kenya's first online pharmacies, drugs.co.ke. After a seven-year sabbatical focused on mentorship and coaching, the founders established a wholesale pharmacy hub in 2021, which evolved into the current tech-layered model of Medkit Network.

The business model serves both B2B and B2C clients. For B2B, it acts as a supply chain partner for local pharmacy operators, providing them with systems, supplies, and training. For B2C customers, the platform (medkit.network) offers an e-pharmacy service where users can order medicines and health products online for home delivery from partner pharmacies. The platform also provides easily understandable health information authored by qualified health professionals. Medkit Network is currently an unfunded company and has not yet made any investments or acquisitions.

The platform connects patients with local pharmacies to facilitate value-based care. Users can upload prescriptions or request a callback to receive support from a personal pharmacist who helps in understanding medications, managing side effects, and adhering to health goals. The service emphasizes compliance with Kenyan regulations, including the Data Protection Act and the Pharmacy and Poisons Act, ensuring all products meet required standards. However, the platform does not process online orders for narcotics or habit-forming drugs, which require a visit to a physical pharmacy.
