Medipal Inc. is a digital health startup based in Seoul, South Korea, founded in June 2020 by CEO Jong-il Kang. Initially, the company focused on matching personal nurses with chronic disease patients for online health management, addressing the need for continuous care outside of brief hospital visits.
The company has since evolved, launching its primary service, AfterDoc, in January 2022. AfterDoc is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution designed for clinics and medical practices to manage patient revisits and post-treatment care. The platform facilitates the digital transformation of clinics, helping them maintain a strong connection with patients after their appointments. Its features include managing post-appointment tasks, monitoring patient health, providing daily health consulting, and scheduling follow-up appointments. This model serves medical clinics by enhancing patient care continuity and engagement.
Medipal has progressed through several funding rounds, starting with a seed round in June 2020 from investors including Sopoong and MYSC. This was followed by a Pre-A round in May 2022 and a Series A round of KRW 5 billion in November 2023, with participation from Bass Investment, Insight Equity Partners, and new investor KT Investment, bringing its total funding to KRW 7 billion. The company has received multiple awards, including the Prime Minister's Award at a public data utilization start-up competition and the grand prize at the Chung Cheong-kon Smart Healthcare competition in 2020.
