Medd, a health-tech firm founded in Mumbai in 2015, established a digital marketplace for diagnostic services. The company was the brainchild of four IIT Bombay alumni: Arpit Kothari, Akash Deep Singhal, Era Dwivedi, and Anurag Mundhada. Their platform was created to address inefficiencies in healthcare delivery by allowing users to book medical tests and procedures at a network of accredited labs and hospitals, often at a discounted rate.

The business operated on a marketplace model, connecting patients with diagnostic service providers. Revenue was generated by facilitating these connections, offering users discounts of 15-50% on various diagnostic tests. Medd's primary service was a web-based platform that enabled users to find and schedule appointments for diagnostic imaging and other medical tests. The key benefit for users was the convenience of booking online and access to a curated network of NABL (ISO 15189) accredited labs, ensuring a standard of quality.

The company's journey included securing angel funding to fuel its growth. In May 2015, Medd raised an undisclosed amount in a round led by angel investor Ajeet Khurana. This was followed by a bridge round of $150,000 in October 2015 from a consortium of angel investors, including doctors and executives from the pharma and e-commerce sectors. These funds were earmarked for expanding its network, growing the team, and enhancing its technology. In a strategic move to consolidate its position in the digital healthcare market, Medd was acquired by Sequoia-backed digital healthcare platform 1mg (now Tata 1mg) in July 2016.
