MANGOFUN
Mobile game development leveraging television IP assets.
Shanghai Mango Interactive Entertainment Technology Co., Ltd., known as MANGOFUN, operates as the sole mobile internet game and application development platform under Hunan Broadcasting System. Founded in April 2014 in Shanghai, the company was established by Mango Media, which is a subsidiary of Hunan Broadcasting & Television Group, by bringing in an external team to create a mobile internet enterprise. It functions as a comprehensive platform for gaming and esports, integrating game publishing, in-house research and development, platform operations, and esports.
The company's primary business encompasses the development of mobile games, mobile applications, mobile advertising, and derivative products. MANGOFUN pioneered the trend of developing mobile games based on television variety shows in China, notably with its "Where Are We Going, Dad?" series of mobile games, which achieved a cumulative total of 320 million downloads. This "show-game linkage" model, which deeply integrates variety show IPs with game mechanics, has become a signature strategy, with titles adapted from IPs like "Happy Camp" and "Day Day Up" surpassing 80 million downloads combined. In June 2018, MANGOFUN, along with four other media and entertainment companies, was part of a major asset restructuring where they were collectively injected into the publicly traded company Happy购, which was subsequently renamed Mango Excellent Media (300413.SZ). This made Mango Excellent Media the first state-owned video platform to be listed on the A-share market.
