MAKERSCUT operated as a Singapore-based online platform launched in 2016 with the goal of supporting independent handbag designers. The company was founded by Mulyadi Syariffudin. The business model was designed to integrate the key stages of product development—design, funding, and production—into a single ecosystem.
The platform enabled designers to upload their handbag designs, which would then be presented to potential buyers. This approach allowed for a form of crowdfunding or pre-ordering, where consumer interest could be gauged and funds secured before committing to a full production run, thereby minimizing financial risks for the creators. MAKERSCUT intended to manage the entire back-end process for the designers, including overseeing manufacturing, logistics, and final product delivery.
The primary clients were independent fashion and accessory designers on one side, and consumers looking for custom-made or unique handbags on the other. By August 2016, the service was noted to be in a private beta stage. The venture secured investment from one institutional backer, Plug and Play APAC. However, the company is no longer active.
