Mahindra CIE Automotive Limited, now known as CIE Automotive India Limited, operates as a multi-technology Tier 2 automotive components supplier. The company's journey began with its incorporation as Mahindra Automotive Steels Limited on August 13, 1999. A pivotal moment in its history was the global alliance agreement signed on June 15, 2013, between the Mahindra Group's Systech division and Spain's CIE Automotive S.A. This strategic partnership was envisioned by Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, to create an Indian auto supplier with a significant global footprint. Following this alliance, the company was renamed Mahindra CIE Automotive Limited on November 27, 2013, and finally became CIE Automotive India Limited in 2022.

The alliance involved CIE Automotive taking a majority stake in Mahindra's consolidated auto components businesses, while Mahindra & Mahindra, in turn, acquired a 13.5% stake in CIE Automotive, becoming its second-largest shareholder. This transaction created a global automotive component supply network and provided CIE Automotive with a strategic entry into the Asian market. Over the years, the company has grown through strategic acquisitions, including Bill Forge Private Limited in 2016 and Aurangabad Electricals Limited (AEL) in 2019, which added precision forging and aluminum die-casting capabilities to its portfolio.

CIE India manufactures and supplies a diverse range of complex and value-added automotive parts directly to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers. Its business model is centered on being a multi-locational, multi-technology supplier with manufacturing facilities in India, Spain, Lithuania, Italy, and Mexico, often situated near major automotive hubs. The company caters to a wide array of automotive segments, including passenger cars, utility vehicles, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and tractors. Its product portfolio is extensive, encompassing forgings like crankshafts and stub axles; stampings and assemblies; gears and shafts; ductile iron castings; and aluminum castings. The company also produces composites and magnetic products. With the acquisition of AEL, it bolstered its offerings in body, brake, and engine parts through high and gravity pressure die casting.
