Lucid News operates as a journalistic platform focused on the growing integration of psychedelics into society. It provides news, opinion pieces, and educational content to inform the public and professionals about the implications of psychedelics for human wellness. The organization was established in 2020 by co-founders including the late Ken Jordan, along with Mareesa Stertz, Faye Sakellaridis, and Ann Harrison (also known as Annie Oak). In the summer following its launch, the for-profit media company transitioned to a nonprofit organization, Lucid News Community Media, with Planetwork as its fiscal sponsor to accept tax-deductible donations.

Ken Jordan was a long-time pioneer in progressive culture, having previously co-founded the consciousness network Evolver and its online journal Reality Sandwich in 2007. His background also includes significant work in digital media, such as leading the 1995 launch of SonicNet, the web's first multimedia music site. Faye Sakellaridis served as the managing editor for Reality Sandwich from 2012 to 2019 and worked with its parent company, Evolver, assisting in the production of various media related to the psychedelic movement.
