Loconi Intermodal S.A. is a Polish logistics operator specializing in intermodal transport, which combines rail, road, and sea transport to move containerized cargo. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Gdynia, the company organizes comprehensive logistics solutions, primarily for shipping companies and freight forwarders, across Poland and other EU countries. It has become a market leader in Poland by focusing on moving cargo from roads to railways, which reduces delivery times, lowers costs, and minimizes environmental impact.
The company's business model revolves around organizing the entire transport process, from seaports to final destinations. Loconi operates an extensive network of rail connections linking major Polish ports like Gdansk and Gdynia with key economic centers via its own and third-party inland terminals. Its services include full-train container transport, last-mile truck deliveries, and various terminal services such as container storage, repair, and cleaning at its facilities in Warsaw and Radomsko. The company serves over 150 forwarding companies and shipowners and handles approximately 300,000 TEUs annually.
A significant milestone occurred in August 2024, when PSA International, a leading global port operator, signed an agreement to acquire an 85% majority stake in Loconi from ATC Cargo S.A. and other shareholders, a transaction finalized in December 2024. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance the hinterland connections for PSA's Baltic Hub Container Terminal in Gdansk and expand its reach into Central and Eastern European markets. The deal, which valued Loconi at PLN 118 million, provides the company with a long-term partner to accelerate investments in terminal infrastructure and technology. The current CEO is Lidia Dziewierska.
