Live to Business (LTB) is a Japanese HR technology company founded in December 2013 by Harumi Suzuki. Suzuki, a US Certified Public Accountant, started the company after witnessing labor shortages firsthand during her decade of experience in accounting. Initially focused on matching Japanese university students with small and medium-sized enterprises, the company pivoted to foreign talent recruitment in 2014 after limited success.
The company operates the "TOKYOJOB" platform, an end-to-end service designed to simplify the complexities of hiring foreign nationals in Japan. The platform addresses challenges such as navigating complex immigration laws and verifying work eligibility. A key feature of their service is the "Residence Status Filter," which matches candidates with jobs they are legally qualified to hold based on their specific visa type. This mitigates the risk of illegal employment for companies. LTB has also developed an application that can scan a foreign resident's card to automatically generate necessary hiring documents, streamlining the onboarding process.
The business model incorporates both a self-service platform for companies experienced in foreign recruitment and a full-support service for those new to it, which includes strategic planning, talent sourcing, and post-hire support. Live to Business targets Japanese companies facing labor shortages across various sectors, including hospitality, food and beverage, construction, and caregiving. In March 2023, the company announced it had raised JPY 80 million in a Pre-Series A funding round from investors including KIBOW Social Investment Fund 3, Kaonavi, Inc., and United, Inc.
