Lightera
Global optical fiber and connectivity solutions provider.
Lightera is a global brand that resulted from the integration of Furukawa Electric's optical fiber cable operations, officially launching on April 1, 2025. This strategic unification combines three of Furukawa Electric Group's business units: the Fiber Cable Division in Japan, OFS Fitel, LLC (OFS) in the U.S., and Furukawa Electric LATAM S.A. (FEL). The company is headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, USA, and operates globally.
The formation of Lightera is a response to the growing global demand for fast and sustainable communications, particularly in rapidly evolving sectors like generative AI, data centers, 5G/6G, utilities, medical, aerospace, defense, and sensing. The company provides a wide range of high-performance optical fiber and connectivity solutions. Its product portfolio includes high-strength fiber cables for various industrial, indoor, and outdoor applications, such as the durable DryBlock® and the flexible EZ-Bend® cables. Lightera's offerings are engineered to support high-speed broadband internet, enabling high-quality video, voice, and data transmission.
The new operational structure is organized under a holding company, Lightera Holding G.K., with Foad Shaikhzadeh serving as Chairman and CEO, and Holly Hulse as President and COO. The business is divided into four regional divisions—Asia Pacific, North America, LatAm/Europe/Middle East/Africa, and a global Specialty Photonics division—to enhance synergy, accelerate decision-making, and drive innovation across markets.
