Light (Formerly Palmu)

Light Inc., founded in April 2020 by Yasumasa Kin, operates the live streaming application "Palmu". Palmu is a platform where viewers and streamers can connect in real-time through comments and gift-giving functionalities. The service launched in July 2022 and aims to create a world where the next generation of stars can be co-created with users.

The company is integrating Web3 technologies, such as its own points and tokens (cryptocurrency), to create a next-generation platform that provides incentives to both broadcasters and the viewers who liven up the streams. This business model is designed to foster a user-first environment where participants are financially rewarded, and their input is more directly reflected in the platform's development, moving away from a model where the operator is the sole beneficiary. The platform operates on a B2C model within the video and live streaming service market.

In a July 2023 early funding round, Light Inc. raised 500 million JPY, bringing its total funding to 900 million JPY. Key investors include Emoote, Maezawa web3 fund, Hyperithm, Spiral Capital, GMO AI & Web3, B Dash Ventures, and KDDI Open Innovation Fund 3. This capital is being used to enhance product development, user acquisition, and community management.
