Lampoon Magazine is a Milan-based publication focused on fashion, art, design, and culture with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Founded in 2014 by editor and entrepreneur Carlo Mazzoni, the magazine targets the creative scene by reporting on Italian manufacturing, ecological transition, and cultural diversity. Mazzoni, a writer and journalist with a background at Mondadori, Rizzoli, and Condé Nast, launched Lampoon after his tenure as Editor in Chief of L'Officiel Italia. The name 'Lampoon' was inspired by 'The Harvard Lampoon' and is meant to signify a sharp, sincere, and straightforward publication.
The publishing house, Lampoon Publishing House S.r.l., operates as an editorial content studio and provider with worldwide distribution. Initially a quarterly print magazine with a parallel digital presence, it later transitioned to a more substantial bi-annual newsstand edition. The business model centers on treating fashion not just as an aesthetic phenomenon but as an industrial and cultural sector. In August 2025, Angel Capital Management, the holding company of Angelo Moratti, acquired a 10% stake in the publishing house to support international growth and reinforce its focus on social and environmental sustainability in fashion. Following this investment, Mazzoni's ownership stake was reduced to 60%, with creative director Alessandro Fornaro holding the remaining 30%. The company also has a spin-off, Prototipo Studio, an experimental manufacturing project focused on craftsmanship and transparency, which is supported by Lampoon's communication strategy.
