Kublax Financial Technologies Ltd. was a UK-based financial technology company that operated as a personal financial management platform. Founded in August 2007 by Sridhar Sethuraman, a former IT and management consultant, Kublax was positioned as the UK's counterpart to the American service, Mint.com. The company was one of the six winners of investment from Seedcamp in 2007.
The core of Kublax's business was a platform designed to automatically aggregate a user's various UK bank and credit card accounts into a single, consolidated view. This service aimed to provide individuals with a clearer understanding of their financial situation, facilitate better budgeting, and help them save money. The business model relied on attracting users who would entrust the platform with their online banking credentials to enable the aggregation service, which was provided in partnership with a third-party account aggregator, Yodlee. The service was intended to be "read-only," meaning no transactions could be initiated from the platform.
Despite its early promise and securing two rounds of funding totaling €2 million, Kublax faced significant challenges. The company struggled to raise the additional capital required to launch an enhanced version of its product and further develop its offering. Consequently, Kublax entered administration and officially ceased operations on February 19, 2010. Upon closure, the company assured its customers that all user data, including financial and banking details, would be permanently deleted from its and its partners' servers.
