Kishorn Port Ltd (KPL) is a joint venture formed in 2008 between Ferguson Transport & Shipping and Leiths (Scotland) Ltd. The company operates the Kishorn Port and Dry Dock on the west coast of Scotland, a facility with a history stretching back to the 1970s when it was used for the construction of the 600,000-tonne Ninian Central Platform. After a period of dormancy, the port was revitalized to serve the offshore renewables, oil and gas decommissioning, and aquaculture markets.
The port's primary assets include a 160-meter diameter dry dock, sheltered deep-water anchorages, and extensive laydown areas. This infrastructure makes it suitable for a range of large-scale maritime projects. The business model centers on providing port and dry dock services for vessel mobilization, decommissioning, and the manufacturing and assembly of components for the offshore wind sector. Clients include energy companies, vessel operators, and aquaculture firms. A significant recent project was the recycling of the Northern Producer, a 240-meter-long floating production facility, marking the port's capability in handling large decommissioning projects.
