The company was founded in October 2008 by Jared "Jingle Jared" Gutstadt and Dan Demole. Gutstadt, a musician and former video editor for Viacom, identified the need for accessible, quality music for media productions. He partnered with Demole, a computer science graduate who developed the company's core technology, after they met at a Black Keys concert. The business started in Gutstadt’s apartment and quickly grew, establishing offices in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, and London.

Jingle Punks has achieved significant milestones, including receiving multiple ASCAP Film & TV Awards for its work on shows like 'The Voice' and the theme for 'Pawn Stars'. The company's history includes several acquisitions. In 2012, William Morris Endeavor (WME) acquired a majority stake. In March 2015, it was sold to ole Music Publishing (which later rebranded as Anthem Entertainment). Most recently, in October 2024, the music licensing platform Slipstream, founded by Jingle Punks' original co-founder Dan Demole, acquired Jingle Punks from Anthem Entertainment, marking a homecoming for the brand's creator.
