The founders' backgrounds are complementary, with Dillon holding a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Iowa State University and Cole having earned a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution. Dillon's experience includes participation in the CYstarters Accelerator and BETA Cohort programs. Cole gained project management and engineering experience at major corporations like Mercury Marine and Rolls-Royce.
Initially focused on the smart brewing industry, the company pivoted in 2022 to serve OEMs and industrial equipment suppliers. This strategic shift led to a rebranding as JAS Monitoring. The firm's core business revolves around connecting industrial machinery to the cloud. This is achieved either through their proprietary "Cloud Module," a plug-and-play hardware device, or via an API integration, depending on the client's product. Connectivity options are versatile, including Cellular, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and LoRaWAN.
The collected data is transmitted to a web-based, mobile-friendly software platform. This platform allows clients to remotely monitor their entire fleet of equipment, set up alerts for performance issues, and track critical service data across various customer sites. The service aims to help businesses recommend preventative maintenance and respond to customer issues more efficiently. For OEMs, JAS can create a private-labeled version of the monitoring service, adding value to their existing products and potentially creating a new recurring revenue stream.
