Isochron Data Corporation operated as a provider of enterprise software solutions utilizing wireless and web technologies, specifically targeting the vending and remote asset management sectors.

The company was established in 1997 by Aruni Gunasegaram and Erin Defosse while they were MBA students at the McCombs School of Business. Their venture began as an entry into the 1998 International Moot Corp. business plan competition. Following the competition, Isochron Data Corporation joined the Austin Technology Incubator (ATI), which provided crucial infrastructure and credibility, allowing the founders to concentrate on expansion. The firm demonstrated significant early traction, securing its first $1 million in revenue and eventually raising a total of $15.5 million in capital. By 2000, the company had grown to a team of 50 employees and was actively acquiring customers.

Isochron Data's business model centered on providing machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions that enabled remote monitoring and management of distributed equipment. The primary clients were operators in the soft drink and packaged ice vending industries. The core of their offering was a hardware and software system that allowed for the wireless capture, storage, and analysis of product- and location-specific data from individual vending units. This technology provided clients with insights into sales, maintenance needs, and operational status, which could be accessed and manipulated via a global computer network. The company's intellectual property included a trademark for "X-RAY VISION INTO YOUR VALUABLE ASSETS," which encapsulated their service of providing deep, real-time visibility into remote assets.

Despite its initial success, the company faced challenges raising further growth capital following the dot-com bubble burst. In 2002, Isochron Data Corporation was acquired by a private equity firm. The company continued to operate in Austin until its intellectual property assets were sold to Crane Merchandising in 2008.
