Founded in 2014 by Cristian Fracassi, Isinnova is a research and development hub located in Brescia, Italy, that transforms ideas into tangible products. The firm operates as both a consulting service and an idea incubator, serving individual inventors and corporate clients across sectors such as medical, industrial, and design. The business model is centered on providing comprehensive consultancy, guiding clients from initial feasibility studies and business plan development to prototyping, communication, and intellectual property protection through patent filing services.
Cristian Fracassi, an engineer with a PhD in materials engineering and a master's in business development, established Isinnova to create a dedicated space for innovation. His journey was sparked by a desire to apply his engineering skills to solve real-world problems, a drive that materialized after witnessing the devastation of the L'Aquila earthquake in 2009. This foundational ethos of problem-solving is evident in the company's structure, which comprises a diverse team of engineers, designers, and materials experts.
Isinnova gained international recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic for its rapid response to medical equipment shortages. In March 2020, when a local hospital faced a critical shortage of Venturi valves for respiratory machines, Fracassi's team reverse-engineered and 3D-printed the necessary components within hours. Shortly after, collaborating with a former physician, they developed the "Charlotte valve," an adapter that converts a widely available snorkeling mask into a non-invasive C-PAP mask for emergency ventilation. To ensure wide accessibility during the crisis, Isinnova patented the valve to prevent price gouging and released the design files for free, allowing for global replication. This project, known as Easy-Covid19, resulted in the production of hundreds of thousands of life-saving masks worldwide and earned Fracassi the title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
The company's services extend beyond emergency interventions, specializing in research and the development of technological solutions across various fields. It functions as a research and technology transfer center, assisting clients in securing patents and accessing financing for their projects. Isinnova acts as a bridge, connecting innovative ideas with suitable companies to foster new business opportunities. The firm's expertise in 3D printing and IoT technologies is a key asset, enabling rapid prototyping and the engineering of complex devices.
