Ironhill India is a chain of microbreweries known for its extensive craft beer selection and multi-cuisine food offerings. Founded in 2017 by Teja Chekuri, Subba Raju Penmatsa, Annamaneni Vidhatha, and Sree Harsha Vadlamudi, the company started with its first outlet in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Ironhill has since expanded to several cities, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Nellore, and Bengaluru.
The company's flagship location in Bengaluru, opened in March 2021, is noted as the world's largest microbrewery, spanning 130,000 square feet with a seating capacity for over 1,500 patrons. This establishment was developed by converting an old garment factory. The business operates on a franchise model, specifically a Franchise Owned Franchise Operated (FOFO) model, and is exploring a Franchise Owned Company Operated (FOCO) model for future growth. This strategy allows for rapid expansion by leveraging partners' resources while maintaining brand control over aspects like staffing, menu, and marketing.
Co-founder Teja Chekuri has a background in electrical engineering and experience in the IT sector before transitioning to the food and beverage industry. His entrepreneurial journey in hospitality began in the US with the Godavari Group of restaurants before he turned his focus to the Indian market, pioneering craft beer concepts like Prost in 2012 before establishing Ironhill India. His vision for Ironhill was to create a comprehensive experience combining authentic craft beers with a complementary food menu and a vibrant ambiance. All of Chekuri's ventures are consolidated under Full Stack Ventures.
Ironhill's core product is its variety of craft beers, often featuring eight styles on tap, including lagers, ales, stouts, and seasonal fruit-infused ciders. The brewing process uses ingredients sourced internationally from Germany, the US, and the UK, as well as local ingredients for unique flavors like a Ragi Ale. The food menu is extensive, featuring a mix of continental and local Indian favorites, including thin-crust pizzas, pastas, kebabs, and regional dishes, designed to pair with the beer offerings.
