Inzen Studio is a mobile game development company that creates and publishes games for a global audience. The company operates on a dual-strategy model: it develops its own games with distinctive gameplay experiences and partners with publishers in key markets, like China, for distribution. Additionally, Inzen acts as an ecosystem developer, collaborating with strategic partners to incubate new game companies in Southeast Asia and co-publish their titles across the region and in China.
The company was founded in 2012 in Singapore by a five-member team, led by co-founder and CEO Gerald Tock, who were previously part of the core team at the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab. This background provided the founders with deep experience in game prototyping, research, and development for both Eastern and Western markets. Before Inzen, Tock was the Head of Operations at the Game Lab and had successfully operated two other indie-game companies.
Inzen Studio has secured a total of $1.27 million in funding over two rounds from investors including Incubate Fund, Hatcher, GMGC, and Baidu Games. The company initially focused on penetrating the Chinese market, establishing an office in Beijing to better understand player tastes and culture. Its game portfolio includes titles described as quirky and humorous, such as the mobile arcade games *Dark Dot* and *Nightmare Duel*. In April 2017, Inzen was acquired by iCandy Interactive, an Australian-listed mobile entertainment company, for approximately US$4.4 million. Following the acquisition, Inzen continues to operate under its own brand, with Tock taking on the role of group COO for iCandy, focusing on strategy and partnerships.
