Internal Medicine Associates of Plano

Internal Medicine Associates of Plano (IMAP) is a medical group practice providing primary care services in Plano and Frisco, Texas. Founded in 2007 by Dr. Arash Tirandaz, the practice focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illnesses in adults. Dr. Tirandaz, a board-certified internist, started the practice in Plano in 1996 after completing his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch and postgraduate training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. His family had moved to the United States from Iran in 1978.

IMAP offers a wide range of services including preventative care, management of acute and chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension, and in-office diagnostics such as lab work, cardiovascular testing, and bone density assessments. The practice has a multi-specialty team that includes physicians with additional training in family medicine, geriatrics, endocrinology, sports medicine, and obesity medicine. The business operates on a fee-for-service model and accepts a wide variety of insurance plans. Patients can be seen for same-day appointments for urgent needs, and the clinic also offers telehealth visits.

In December 2023, Tygon Peak Capital, a private equity firm, invested in IMAP and Doctors of Internal Medicine (DIM) to form a new healthcare platform. This platform aims to serve working professionals and the Medicare population with a focus on value-based care. Following the investment, Dr. Tirandaz and Dr. Ladan Bakhtari (founder of DIM) became co-CEOs of the new platform. IMAP is an operating subsidiary of Doctors of Internal Medicine.
