IntentX is a decentralized, over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives exchange platform specializing in perpetual futures trading. Founded in 2022 by individuals known as Levy and Roux, who serve as Founder and Co-Founder & CTO respectively, the company aims to merge the liquidity and user experience of centralized exchanges with the security and self-custody of decentralized finance. The platform launched its open beta in November 2023.
The core of IntentX's operation is its intent-based architecture, which diverges from traditional order book or automated market maker (AMM) models. Instead of placing orders directly, traders express their "intent" to trade, which is then fulfilled by external market makers, referred to as solvers. This "just-in-time" liquidity model is designed to enhance capital efficiency, as solvers only need to provide capital when a trade is being executed. This architecture leverages a settlement layer from its infrastructure partner, SYMMIO, to facilitate trades. By using solvers to hedge positions on major centralized exchanges, IntentX can offer deep liquidity and a wide range of trading pairs (over 315) with up to 60x leverage.
The company's business model is based on charging a percentage transaction fee on the notional volume of all trades conducted on the exchange. IntentX operates across multiple blockchain networks, including Base, Mantle, and Blast, utilizing the LayerZero protocol for cross-chain communication. The platform has secured $2.5 million in a seed funding round led by Magnus Capital to advance its development. Key features include cross-margin accounts, sub-account support, and a native token, INTX, which can be staked as xINTX for utility and value capture within the ecosystem.
