In January 1984, with the ambition of becoming an independent manufacturer, Inspec began as a subcontractor assembling electronic components. At the time, the company was known as Taiyo Seisakusho. It wasn't until 1996, after overcoming many challenges, that the company developed a lead frame inspection device and established itself as a manufacturer of inspection equipment. In January 2001, the company officially changed its name to Inspec Inc. Under the leadership of President and CEO Masashi Sugawara, Inspec has focused on being a research and development-driven manufacturer. The company's strength lies in possessing all three key elements of visual inspection in-house: image processing, mechatronics, and optical sensing technologies. This comprehensive capability allows them to provide top-tier solutions for inspecting high-precision printed circuit boards, such as semiconductor package substrates. The company is publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under the securities code 6656. While navigating the complexities of the tech world, Inspec has faced and overcome significant hurdles, including attempts to enter new markets that did not succeed. However, these experiences provided valuable lessons and know-how, contributing to the company's resilience and current technological strength. Today, Inspec continues to develop and manufacture visual inspection equipment for semiconductors and other IT-related devices.
