Established in 2016, InnoVision, which previously operated under the name RockVR, is a Beijing-based software company focused on the virtual and augmented reality sectors. The firm was co-founded by Tao Hu and Yu Sun. Tao Hu's professional journey is directly linked to the company's focus; after graduating from the University of Southern California with a degree in Computer Sciences, he joined Oculus VR. At Oculus, he contributed to the GearVR app store and developed some of the platform's initial native applications, including Oculus Video and Oculus Social, before departing to establish InnoVision.
The company secured seed funding and has received backing from venture capital firms such as Vive X, Cherubic Ventures, UpHonest Capital, and IMO Ventures. InnoVision's development was supported through its participation in the first batch of the Vive X Accelerator and the seventh batch of the KrSpace Incubator.
InnoVision's core business is developing applications for the consumer VR and AR markets. Its flagship product is the Moon VR Player, a media player designed for a wide range of VR headsets including Meta Quest, Pico, and HTC Vive, as well as for PC. The player is designed to function as a private virtual cinema, supporting playback of numerous video types such as 2D, 3D, 180-degree, and 360-degree content. Key features include a passthrough AR mode that allows users to overlay a virtual screen onto their real-world environment, support for 4K video, and compatibility with various audio and subtitle formats. Revenue is generated through a subscription model for the player's premium functionalities. Beyond its main player, the company also developed a video capture SDK for the Unity engine and an AR-based virtual pet application.
