In 1968, what started as a small engineering office, PIEPER, took its first steps by installing industrial television systems. This initial focus on video technology laid the groundwork for the company's future specialization. Over the next five decades, the firm, now known as Pieper GmbH, evolved from a simple installer to a manufacturer-independent provider of comprehensive industrial video and security systems. The company's core business developed into providing customized solutions for process monitoring, particularly in high-temperature environments like furnaces, and early fire detection systems. This specialization made them an international name for high-quality, innovative systems. A significant chapter in their journey involved being part of the U.S.-based MOOG Inc. group. A pivotal moment arrived in 2018, coinciding with their 50th anniversary. The management, led by longtime managing director Thorsten Wulff, seized the opportunity to buy the company back from MOOG Inc. This management buyout marked a return to its origins, re-establishing PIEPER GmbH as a strong, independent brand in the video security market. To steer the company's future, Thomas Lampe, a company veteran since 1990, was appointed as an additional managing director alongside Wulff, creating a dual leadership structure to drive future growth.
